Vung Tau day 2 - progress

What a great day to see all the awesome work that is being done at My Huong's new Vung Tau facility.

About 150 orphans are being served there. In it for the long haul, "Ma My Huong" as they affectionately call her has been a great influence for positive impact in the area.

I toured the massive and beautiful centre and took several pictures for the website update we're working with her to complete. As you may remember, we're using the Spero-trained Ukrainian website development team to update My Huong's site. What a neat way to connect orphans and underprivileged from all around the world!

One of the special parts of the visit was seeing her sewing program move forward. A generous donor donated money for her to buy 13 new sewing machines. while I was there 8 machines were delivered to the VT centre (other 5 will go to the Long Hai centre).  these machines will be used to train these orphans this life skill so the can get jobs when the get older. The success of the program is that 3 orphan-students were hired as seamstresses in Ho Chi Minh city last year!

Safe and sound

Made it to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) safe and sound!

My flight to San Francisco was a little delayed, but other than that I made all the other connections with no issues.

The most "excitement" was having to pull out all of the laptops and put them through the security conveyor in Denver and Japan.  I heard a few, "that's a lot of laptops" from the crowd (eight in all).

Looking forward to getting after it today.

Welcome to my journey

Hello!
As you may have heard, I will be heading back to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam tomorrow (Saturday) to build on our non-profit program exploration efforts.  This trip will be unique in that we have been blessed to connect with several great contacts that will be instrumental in our potential programs there.
In summary:

Goal: to explore and finalize Vietnam as a formal country to enter for Spero Group programs (www.sperogroup.org)

Objectives:
  • To meet with and to discuss potential orphan and underprivileged life skills programs with over 10 people and organizations
  • To seed a small computer lab in partnership with a local NGO already ministering to orphans and underprivileged
  • To return on the 21st with a formal proposal for Spero Group to enter Vietnam

Mission:
  • Stay healthy and safe!
  • Be available and flexible to make the appropriate “Devine appointments” already arranged
  • Be His hope and light to the orphans and others I come in contact with

What can you do?

  1. Consider donating your time and/or money to the 501c3 Spero Group Programs in Ukraine, Moldova and/or Vietnam
  2. Let me know if and when you are able to assist in the Spero efforts
  3. Keep my journeys in your thoughts and prayers

Vietnam holds a very special place in my heart.  Although my orphan circumstances there may not have been ideal, He saw fit to save me and to give me a wonderful life in the United States.  Now it is time to set a new course not only for the next generation of orphans we reach through our programs, but also for my own generations after me.

They must see, know and experience the tangible love that comes from Him and flows back to those who like me, His grace and mercy abounds!
